Functional

Functional

This body of functional work includes vessels for tea, the table and botanical display.
Produced in durable stoneware and wood-fired, the pieces are intended for use rather than display alone. Ash, flame and handling become part of their surface, allowing the objects to gather presence through time and use.

Tea Wares

Vessels for the preparation and sharing of tea. Teapots, bowls and cups are shaped for balance in the hand and for the quiet rituals of pouring, holding and returning the object to the table.

Table Wares

Durable stoneware made for serving and eating. Plates, bowls and dishes are formed with an attention to proportion, weight and use, allowing food and the rhythms of the table to complete the work.

Floral Vessels

Containers for arrangements of flora and botanicals. Their forms support the placing and holding of stems, while surfaces shaped by ash and flame echo the natural materials they accompany.
